190.525. As used in sections 190.525 to 190.537, the following termsmean:
(1) "Department", the department of health and senior services;
(2) "Director", the director of the department of health and seniorservices or the director's duly authorized representative;
(3) "Passenger", an individual needing transportation in a supineposition who does not require medical monitoring, observation, aid, care ortreatment during transportation, with the exception of self-administeredoxygen as ordered by a physician during transportation;
(4) "Patient", an individual who is sick, injured, wounded, diseased,or otherwise incapacitated or helpless, and who may require medicalmonitoring, medical observation, aid, care or treatment duringtransportation, with the exception of self-administered oxygen as orderedby a physician;
(5) "Person", any individual, firm, partnership, copartnership, jointventure, association, cooperative organization, corporation, municipal orprivate, and whether organized for profit or not, state, county, politicalsubdivision, state department, commission, board, bureau or fraternalorganization, estate, public trust, business or common law trust, receiver,assignee for the benefit of creditors, trustee or trustee in bankruptcy, orany other service user or provider;
(6) "Stretcher van", any vehicle other than an ambulance designed andequipped to transport passengers in a supine position. No such vehicleshall be used to provide medical services;
(7) "Stretcher van service", any person or agency that providesstretcher van transportation to passengers who are confined to stretchersand whose conditions are such that they do not need and are not likely toneed medical attention during transportation.
