Mistreatment of inmates--penalty.

191.170. Every person who shall willfully beat, strike,wound or injure any inmate of any institution under the controlof the department of social services, or who shall in any othermanner whatsoever mistreat or maltreat, handle or treat any suchinmate in a brutal or inhuman manner, or who, in the handling ofany such inmate, shall use any more force than is reasonably orapparently necessary for the proper control, treatment ormanagement of such inmate, shall, upon conviction, be punished bya fine of not less than five dollars nor more than one hundreddollars, or by imprisonment in the county or city jail for notless than ten days nor more than six months, or by both such fineand imprisonment.
