Hemophilia program--care and treatment--financialassistance--education--duties of department.

191.340. The department shall:

(1) Assist in the development and expansion of programs forthe care and treatment of persons suffering from hemophilia,including self-administration, prevention, and home care andother medical and dental procedures and techniques designed toprovide maximum control over bleeding episodes typical of thiscondition;

(2) Extend financial assistance to persons suffering fromhemophilia in obtaining blood, blood derivatives andconcentrates, and other efficacious agents for use in hospital,medical and dental facilities, and at home, or participate in thecost of blood processing to the extent that such support willfacilitate the supplying of blood, blood derivatives, andconcentrates and other efficacious agents to hemophiliac patientsat an economical cost, thus increasing the effectiveness of themoneys appropriated to carry out the provisions of sections191.335 and 191.340;

(3) Institute and carry on educational programs amongphysicians, dentists, hospitals, public health departments, andthe public concerning hemophilia, including dissemination ofinformation and the conducting of educational programs concerningthe methods of care and treatment of persons suffering from thecondition.
