191.375. 1. The department shall establish a program forearly and accurate diagnosis of persons suspected of havingcystic fibrosis to avoid increasing lung damage and death as aresult of delayed diagnosis.
2. The department shall also establish a program for thecare and treatment of persons of low and moderate income withcystic fibrosis who require quality medical care, which includescontinuous drug therapy and physician supervision, specialinhalation equipment and treatment, but who are unable to pay forthe entire cost of such services so as to avoid frequenthospitalizations which become necessary whenever lapses inmedical care occur.
3. State assistance pursuant to subsection 1 of this sectionshall be available to an applicant only after he has shown thathe has exhausted all benefits from insurance coverage, Medicare,Medicaid, and other government assistance programs, and privatecharitable assistance programs.
