Acceptance of provisions of this law--bond--prohibited actionsand penalties.

194.140. 1. The president and secretary, or the dean andregistrar, of any educational institution in this state in whichhuman anatomy is being investigated or taught, desiring to acceptthe provisions of sections 194.120 to 194.180, shall, withinthirty days of the first day of each term of said educationalinstitution, make and furnish to the secretary of the board asworn statement setting forth the number of students inattendance at such educational institution.

2. No educational institution shall be allowed or permittedto receive any body or bodies in the manner provided for bysections 194.120 to 194.180 until a bond, approved as to form bythe attorney general of this state, shall have been given to theboard by or in behalf of such educational institution, which bondshall be in the penal sum of one thousand dollars, conditionedthat all such bodies which the said educational institution shallreceive thereafter in the manner provided by said sections, shallbe used only for the promotion or application of anatomicalknowledge and science; and whosoever shall sell or buy such bodyor bodies, or part or parts of body or bodies, or in any waytraffic in the same, or shall transmit or convey or cause to betransmitted or conveyed such body or bodies, or part or parts ofsuch body or bodies, to any place outside of this state, shall bedeemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, besubject to a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars or beimprisoned for a term not exceeding one year, or both; but thissection shall not be construed as prohibiting any physician ordentist licensed to practice his profession in this state, orteachers or investigators of anatomy in said institutions, fromtransporting human specimens outside of the state for temporaryuse at scientific meetings or exhibits.
