Participation in Medicare or Medicaid optional--survey forcertification at same time as license inspection.

198.045. Participation in reimbursement programs undereither Medicare or Medicaid, Title XVIII and Title XIX of theSocial Security Act, (Title 42, United States Code, Sec. 1395x or1396d), or other federal laws, shall be at the option of theindividual facility. A skilled nursing facility or anintermediate care facility which chooses to participate in suchprograms shall be surveyed for certification for reimbursementand inspected for state licensure at the same time.
