Lands or shares subject to all vested rights.

214.220. Any such acquisition of lands or shares shall besubject to all vested rights of individual owners of the lots orallotted burial spaces in any such cemetery to continue lawfuluse thereof for burial purposes and to have the graves, burialvaults, gravestones and markers and monuments therein remaininviolate, subject to the right and power of the city topreserve, care for and reasonably keep the same withoutdisturbing the remains of the dead therein interred; provided,that when and after the continuing or making of new or additionalinterments in any such cemetery may become detrimental or amenace to the health and safety of the inhabitants of said cityresiding or carrying on business or industry at places adjoiningor near to such cemetery, the city may, by ordinance, declarefurther interments in any such cemetery to be a public nuisanceand prohibit further interments therein; provided further, thatupon and after any such acquisition no further or additionalgrants, sales or gifts of lots or burial spaces or burial rightsor privileges in any such cemetery or adjoining or connectedlands of such cemetery corporation or association shall be made;and new or additional burials therein shall neither be promotedor encouraged.
