221.290. The United States shall pay for the use and keepingof such jails, at the rate of one dollar per month for eachperson that shall, under their authority, be committed thereto,and also to the jailer such fees as he would be entitled to forlike services rendered in virtue of the existing laws of thisstate, during the time such prisoner shall be therein confined,and shall support such of said prisoners as shall be committedfor offenses.
