221.405. 1. Any regional jail district created pursuant to section221.400 shall be governed by a commission. The commission shall becomposed of the sheriff and presiding commissioner from each county withinthe district.
2. Each commissioner shall serve during his tenure as sheriff or aspresiding commissioner.
3. Commissioners shall serve until their successors have been dulyappointed. Vacancies on the commission shall be filled by the succeedingsheriff or presiding commissioner for the remainder of the term.
4. Commissioners shall serve without compensation, except that theyshall be reimbursed by the district for their reasonable and necessaryexpenses in the performance of their duties.
5. A jail commissioner from each county in the district shall presenta proposed budget to the county commission.
