State department of transportation created--authority ofcommission--compensation of employees.

226.005. 1. The department of highways and transportation shallhereafter be known as the "Department of Transportation". The departmentshall be in charge of a state highways and transportation commission asprovided by the constitution and statutes.

2. The director shall receive an annual salary of not less than thatprovided for in section 105.950, RSMo. The salaries of the chief engineer,chief financial officer, chief counsel, assistant chief engineer, thesecretary of the commission, and of the division chiefs, department heads,engineers, clerks and other employees of the department shall be fixed bythe commission.
