242.080. 1. Any drainage district heretofore organized andany district that is now in process of organization or anydrainage district that may hereafter be organized under anyprevious or existing law of this state may organize under theprovisions of sections 242.010 to 242.690, and after so organizedshall be entitled to the benefits of all of the provisions ofsaid sections and any or all laws amendatory hereof.
2. The owners of a majority of acreage of any existingdrainage district may make and sign articles of association inwhich shall be stated: The name of the district, which shall bethe same as the name it bears when such articles of associationare made, and the number of years such district is to continue,which shall in no event be for fewer years than the life of anyof its existing obligations. Such articles shall also state thatthe boundaries of the district will be the same as the boundariesof the present organization and that the description of the landand other property and the owners thereof are such as aredescribed in the present record of the district as now organizedand said articles of association shall contain a petition,praying that the lands of said drainage district be declared adrainage district under the provisions of said sections.
3. After such articles of association have been so signed,the same shall be filed in the office of the clerk of the circuitcourt of the county in which such lands are situate, or, if suchlands be situate in two or more counties, then in the office ofthe clerk of the circuit court of the county in which there aresituate more of said lands than in any other county.
