Duties of director.

251.060. The director shall:

(1) Prepare estimates of requirements for appropriations forthe department and for each division thereof;

(2) Procure, by means authorized by law, supplies, material,equipment or contractual services for the department and for eachdivision in the department;

(3) Employ, remove and prescribe duties of the assistants,clerks or other employees in the department and each of thedivisions as the work of the department or its divisions requireand fix their compensation within the limits of theappropriations;

(4) Order and supervise the exchange among the severaldivisions, bureaus or sections of employees, quarters, facilitiesand equipment;

(5) Coordinate and arrange the functions, procedures andfacilities of the department and the several divisions, bureausor sections as is necessary to bring about economy and efficiencyin the operation of the department and each division of thedepartment.

*The department of community affairs was abolished by the Reorganization Act of 1974. Apparently these duties are now being handled by the department of economic development, as well as the office of administration. See notes above.
