Political subdivisions authorized to execute oil and gas leases onpublic lands--proceeds to general revenue.

259.230. The state, counties, cities and towns and otherpolitical subdivisions are hereby authorized to lease publiclyowned lands under their respective jurisdictions for the purposeof oil or gas exploration and production. No such lease shall beentered into until it has been approved by the general assemblyon behalf of the state; on behalf of counties by the countycommission; on behalf of cities and towns by the council thereofand on behalf of other political subdivisions by the governingbody thereof. Such leases shall be upon such terms andconditions as may be agreed upon. All revenue derived from theleasing of state owned lands shall be paid into the general fundof the state. All revenue derived from the leasing of otherpublic lands shall be paid into the general fund of therespective lessor political subdivision.
