Department to provide technical assistance and public educationprograms on collection of used motor oil--household consumer usedmotor oil, duty to maintain toll-free telephone for information.

260.253. Funds may be allocated, upon appropriation, to thedepartment to provide technical assistance to local governments and conductpublic education programs concerning the proper handling of used motor oil.The department shall establish and maintain a telephone number, which maybe toll free, for the purpose of disseminating information concerning thelocations and operation of household consumer-used motor oil collectioncenters within the state, as well as information concerning theavailability, dates and requirements for curbside collection whereavailable. The department shall also develop a durable and legible sign,suitable for use by a retailer of motor oil informing the public of theimportance of proper collection, recycling or disposal of used motor oiland the telephone number for used motor oil information.
