Batteries, lead-acid, disposal of restricted--penalty.

260.260. 1. Effective January 1, 1991, no person shall knowinglyplace a used lead-acid battery in a solid waste disposal area, discard orotherwise dispose of a lead-acid battery.

2. Such batteries shall be delivered to a recycling or resourcerecovery facility permitted by this or another state or to the agent of abattery wholesaler or manufacturer for delivery to a permitted secondarylead smelter.

3. Each lead-acid battery improperly disposed of shall constitute aseparate violation. A person who disposes of a lead-acid battery inviolation of this section shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a class Cmisdemeanor.
