Wholesalers of lead-acid batteries, duties--storage of batteries,requirements.

260.266. 1. Any person selling new lead-acid batteries at wholesaleshall accept, at the point of transfer, in a quantity at least equal to thenumber of new lead-acid batteries purchased, used lead-acid batteries fromcustomers, if offered by customers. A person accepting lead-acid batteriesin transfer from an automotive battery retailer shall be allowed a periodnot to exceed ninety days to remove lead-acid batteries from the retailpoint of collection.

2. Lead-acid battery retailers and wholesalers shall not hold usedlead-acid batteries for more than ninety days without the approval of thedepartment and shall store used lead-acid batteries in a manner which willprotect human health and the environment pursuant to regulations adopted bythe department of natural resources under this chapter.
