Where council established, university to hire employees and consultwith council on programs.

262.587. In counties in which there is a council theuniversity shall:

(1) Have the responsibility and authority to employ anddischarge such agents and employees as it deems necessary andproper for the conduct of extension work within the county andshall prescribe and assign their duties and determine theircompensation and expenses allowed in the discharge of theirduties and shall exercise supervisory powers in the establishmentand maintenance of proper offices, equipment, and suppliesnecessary for the proper administration of the extension program.

(2) With the advice and counsel of the council, formulateextension programs in the county and it shall be responsible forthe administration and execution of the extension program in eachcounty.

(3) Before assigning any extension personnel in the areaover which the council has jurisdiction first consult and advisewith the council affected before making the assignment ofpersonnel. If personnel proposed by the university is notsatisfactory to the council another person shall be madeavailable by the university.

(4) Consult with the council before taking action todischarge or remove any employee.
