Pedestrians' right-of-way in crosswalks.

300.375. 1. When traffic control signals are not in placeor not in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield theright-of-way, slowing down or stopping if need be to so yield, toa pedestrian crossing the roadway within a crosswalk when thepedestrian is upon the half of the roadway upon which the vehicleis traveling, or when the pedestrian is approaching so closelyfrom the opposite half of the roadway as to be in danger.

2. No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other placeof safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is soclose that it is impossible for the driver to yield.

3. Subsection 1 shall not apply under the conditions statedin subsection 2 of section 300.390.

4. Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk orat any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit apedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicleapproaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass suchstopped vehicle.
