Operation Enduring Freedom special license plates, application, fee.

301.3090. Any person who is serving on active duty or has served inany branch of the United States military, including the reserves ornational guard, during any part of Operation Enduring Freedom and has notbeen dishonorably discharged may receive special motor vehicle licenseplates for any motor vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly,other than an apportioned motor vehicle or a commercial motor vehiclelicensed in excess of eighteen thousand pounds gross weight. Any suchperson shall make application for the special license plates on a formprovided by the director of revenue and furnish such proof of serviceduring Operation Enduring Freedom or proof of status as an honorablydischarged veteran as the director may require. Upon presentation of theproof of eligibility and annual payment of the fee required forpersonalized license plates prescribed by section 301.144, and other feesand documents which may be required by law, the director shall then issuelicense plates bearing letters or numbers or a combination thereof asdetermined by the advisory committee established in section 301.129, withthe words "OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM" in place of the words "SHOW-MESTATE". Such plates shall also bear an image of the American flag. Theplates shall be clearly visible at night and shall be aestheticallyattractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. There shall be no limit onthe number of license plates any person qualified under this section mayobtain so long as each set of license plates issued under this section isissued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License platesissued pursuant to this section shall not be transferable to any otherperson except that any registered co-owner of the motor vehicle may operatethe motor vehicle for the duration of the year licensed in the event of thedeath of the qualified person.
