301.441. Any person who is a retired member of the United StatesArmy, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard may apply for retiredmilitary motor vehicle license plates for any motor vehicle the personowns, either solely or jointly, other than an apportioned motor vehicle ora commercial motor vehicle licensed in excess of eighteen thousand poundsgross weight. There shall be no limit on the number of license plates anyperson qualified pursuant to this section may obtain so long as each set oflicense plates issued pursuant to this section is issued for a vehicleowned solely or jointly by such person. No additional fee shall be chargedfor license plates issued pursuant to this section. Notwithstanding theprovisions of section 301.144, no additional fee shall be charged for thepersonalization of license plates issued pursuant to this section. Suchperson shall make application for the license plates on a form provided bythe director of revenue and furnish such proof of retired status from thatparticular branch of the United States armed forces as the director mayrequire. The plates shall have a white background with a blue and redconfiguration at the discretion of the advisory committee established insection 301.129. Such plates shall bear the insignia of the respectivebranch the applicant served in. The director shall then issue licenseplates bearing the words "RETIRED MILITARY" in preference to the words"SHOW-ME STATE" in a form prescribed by the advisory committee establishedin section 301.129. Such license plates shall be made with fullyreflective material, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall beaesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130.
