301.456. Any person who has been awarded the military service awardknown as the "Silver Star" may apply for special motor vehicle licenseplates for any vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly, otherthan an apportioned motor vehicle or a commercial motor vehicle licensed inexcess of eighteen thousand pounds gross weight. Any such person shallmake application for the special license plates on a form provided by thedirector of revenue and furnish such proof as a recipient of the silverstar as the director may require. The director shall then issue licenseplates bearing letters or numbers or a combination thereof as determined bythe advisory committee established in section 301.129, with the words"SILVER STAR" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license platesshall be made with fully reflective material with a common color scheme anddesign, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aestheticallyattractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. Such plates shall also bearan image of the silver star. There shall be an additional fee charged foreach set of silver star license plates issued pursuant to this sectionequal to the fee charged for personalized license plates. There shall beno limit on the number of license plates any person qualified under thissection may obtain so long as each set of license plates issued under thissection is issued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person.License plates issued under the provisions of this section shall not betransferable to any other person except that any registered co-owner of themotor vehicle shall be entitled to operate the motor vehicle with suchplates for the duration of the year licensed in the event of the death ofthe qualified person.
