335.017. One of the selected acts which may be performed bypersons licensed under the provisions of this chapter as licensedpractical nurses is the administration of intravenous fluidtreatment. The administration of intravenous fluid treatment maybe performed only by licensed practical nurses who have beeninstructed and trained in such procedures in a course ofinstruction approved by the board. The board shall have theauthority to adopt and revise rules and regulations which limitand define the scope of intravenous fluid treatment which may beperformed by licensed practical nurses. Nothing herein shall beconstrued as prohibiting administration of intravenous fluidtreatment by registered professional nurses. The board shallsubmit emergency rules to the secretary of state to implement theprovisions of this section within thirty days of December 15,1983, and the board shall act promptly on applications oforganizations requesting approval of their course of instruction.
