Classifications of certification and licensure forappraisers--application--qualifications--continuing educationrequirements.

339.511. 1. There shall be three classes of licensure:

(1) State-licensed real estate appraiser;

(2) Certified residential real estate appraiser; and

(3) Certified general real estate appraiser.

2. Persons desiring to obtain licensure as a state-licensed real estateappraiser or certification as a certified residential or certified generalreal estate appraiser shall make written application to the commission on suchforms as are prescribed by the commission setting forth the applicant'squalifications for licensure or certification and present to the commissionsatisfactory proof that the person is of good moral character and bears a goodreputation for honesty, integrity and fair dealing.

3. Each applicant for licensure as a state-licensed real estateappraiser, a state-certified residential real estate appraiser or astate-certified general real estate appraiser shall have demonstrated theknowledge and competence necessary to perform appraisals of residential andother real estate as the commission may prescribe by rule not inconsistentwith any requirements imposed by the appraiser qualifications board. Thecommission shall prescribe by rule procedures for obtaining and maintainingapproved courses of instruction. The commission shall, also, prescribe thehours of training in real estate appraisal practices and the minimum level ofexperience acceptable for licensure or certification.

4. Persons who receive certification after March 30, 1991, or who have astate license or certificate to engage in business as a real estate appraiserissued by the commission, shall receive the same license or certificate fromthe commission as such persons are currently holding without furthereducation, experience, examination or application fee, but shall be requiredto meet all continuing education requirements prescribed by the commission.
