May own and operate motor vehicles.

388.270. Any steam railroad company operating a railroad inthis state may acquire, own and operate motor vehicles for thepurpose of carrying passengers or property, or both persons andproperty, for hire upon the highways of this state in the samemanner as individuals are now or may hereafter be permitted so todo.

(1956) Railroad, having authority to transport freight by truck from depot to depot, was not entitled to authority to pick up and deliver freight to shippers' docks in absence of showing of public convenience and necessity.
