Vacancy, how filled.

483.020. When any vacancy shall occur in the office of anycircuit clerk so elected, by death, resignation, removal, refusalto act or otherwise, it shall be the duty of the governor in thecase of an elected clerk to fill such vacancy by appointing someeligible person to said office, who shall discharge the dutiesthereof until the next general election, at which time a clerkshall be chosen for the remainder of the term, who shall hold hisoffice until his successor is duly elected and qualified, unlesssooner removed.
