Circuit clerk of Lewis County--duties.

483.355. The circuit clerk of Lewis County shall attend thecircuit court at Canton in person, or by deputy, and perform suchduties in respect to said court as is or may be required of theclerks of the circuit courts of this state, for which he shallreceive the same fees as are now or may be provided by law forsimilar services in like courts of record. He shall procure andkeep a seal to be used as the seal of said court. He shall keepan office in said town of Canton to be provided by the board oftrustees of said town, and shall put the same in charge of adeputy, for whose acts he shall be responsible, and who shallhave the same care and management of all books and paperspertaining to said court, and exercise the powers and perform allthe duties of his office in the absence of his principal.
