Judgment by default, how proceeded on to final judgment.

511.140. Whenever an interlocutory judgment shall berendered for the plaintiff by default nihil dicit, confession, orupon an issue of law, in any suit founded upon a writteninstrument, or upon a judgment of any court of record, and thedemand is ascertained by such instrument or the record of anysuch judgment, the court shall assess the damages, and finaljudgment shall be given thereon.
