When any officer shall have levied upon any goodsand chattels, real estate or other effects by virtue of anyexecution, and the term of service of such officer shall expireand be determined before or after the sale thereof, and beforethe purchaser shall have obtained a deed therefor, duly executed,such officer shall, nevertheless, have power to do and performall things in relation to such execution and the sale of suchproperty, and in making, acknowledging and executing a deed tothe purchaser, in the same manner and with like effect, to allintents and purposes, as if his term of office had not expired;and he and his sureties shall be subject to the like penalties,actions, proceedings and judgments for neglect, misconduct orfailure therein, as if he still continued in office.
