521.140. The original writ of attachment shall be directedand delivered to the sheriff, or other officer authorized by lawto serve the same, and shall command him to attach the lands,tenements, goods, chattels, rights, moneys, credits, evidences ofdebt and effects of the defendant, or so much thereof as will besufficient to satisfy the plaintiff's claim, as sworn to, withinterest and costs, and to summon as garnishees all persons inwhose hands or possession any personal property, rights, credits,evidences of debt, effects or money of the defendant may be, orwho may be named by the plaintiff or his attorney as garnishees.When the action is commenced by attachment, the writ shallfurther contain a summons to the defendant, of the nature andeffect of an ordinary summons, to appear and answer the action ofthe plaintiff.
