What courts may accept recognizance.

544.490. Whenever any person shall be committed to jail on awarrant of commitment by any associate circuit judge for anoffense for which he may be released as provided in section544.455, the recognizance or other condition for release may betaken by a circuit judge or an associate circuit judge who hasbeen specially assigned for such purpose, and in case of theabsence of any such judge from the county, such recognizance orcondition for release may be taken by any judge of the circuitcourt except a municipal judge.
