549.525. 1. Any city with a population of more than three hundredfifty thousand inhabitants which is located in more than one county whichprovides probation services for persons convicted of its ordinanceviolations may collect from the person placed on probation a fee of tendollars per month for providing supervision and rehabilitation services.
2. The court may exempt a person from all or part of the contributionrequired in subsection 1 of this section if it finds any of the followingfactors exist:
(1) The offender has diligently attempted, but has been unable, toobtain employment which provides him sufficient income to make suchpayments;
(2) The offender is a student in school, college, university orcourse of vocational or technical training designed to fit the student forgainful employment. Certification of such student status shall be suppliedto the court by the educational institution in which the offender isenrolled;
(3) The offender has an employment handicap, as determined by aphysical, psychological or psychiatric examination acceptable to or orderedby the court;
(4) The offender's age prevents him from obtaining employment;
(5) The offender is responsible for the support of dependents, andthe payment of such contribution constitutes an undue hardship on theoffender;
(6) There are other extenuating circumstances as determined by thecourt to exempt or partially reduce such payments; or
(7) The offender has been transferred outside the state under aninterstate compact adopted pursuant to law.
