Commission duties and objectives--coordination with local filmoffices.

620.1210. 1. There is hereby established within the department ofeconomic development the "Office of the Missouri Film Commission". Theobjectives of this office shall be to:

(1) Explain the benefits and advantages of producing motion picturesin Missouri, and describe the services and assistance available from thestate and local governments for the producers of motion pictures;

(2) Scout potential film locations for national and internationalfilm prospects, and prepare and distribute promotional, informational andadvertising material, which describe and promote locations within the statefor the production of motion pictures;

(3) Encourage cooperation between local, state and federal governmentagencies in the location and production of motion pictures in the state;

(4) Serve as a liaison between film makers, community leaders andfederal, state and local authorities;

(5) Assist motion picture companies in securing permits to film atspecific locations within the state, and assist such companies in obtainingother needed services related to the production of motion pictures;

(6) Escort film production prospects on scouting trips;

(7) Prepare a directory of the persons, firms and governmentalagencies available to assist in the production of motion pictures;

(8) Sponsor workshops on topics relating to filmmaking, includingscreen writing, film financing and the preparation of communities toattract and assist motion picture productions;

(9) Represent the state at film industry trade shows and filmfestivals;

(10) Produce and maintain a video library which depicts the varietyand extent of the locations within Missouri, including rural locations,available for the production of motion pictures.

2. The office of the film commission, shall closely coordinate itsefforts with any local film office. A "local film office" shall includeany film office, tourism bureau or other economic development agency thatseeks to promote film production funded principally by local governmentsin Missouri.
