DNA profiling system to be established in department of public safety,purpose.

650.050. 1. The Missouri department of public safety shall developand establish a "DNA Profiling System", referred to in sections 650.050 to650.100 as the system to assist federal, state, and local criminal justiceand law enforcement agencies in the identification, investigation, andprosecution of individuals as well as the identification of missing orunidentified persons.

2. This DNA profiling system shall consist of qualified Missouriforensic laboratories approved by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

3. The Missouri state highway patrol crime laboratory shall be theadministrator of the state's DNA index system.

4. The DNA profiling system as established in this section shall becompatible with that used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to ensurethat DNA records are fully exchangeable between DNA laboratories and thatquality assurance standards issued by the director of the Federal Bureau ofInvestigation are applied and performed.

5. DNA samples obtained under sections 650.050 to 650.100 shall onlybe analyzed consistent with sections 650.050 to 650.100 and applicablefederal laws and regulations.
