Updating of minimum energy efficiency standards.

701.506. In conjunction with the advisory group under section701.509, the department shall update the minimum energy efficiencystandards in section 701.503 not less than once every three years beginningfrom the date the standards were first promulgated by rule. The purpose ofany such update shall be to keep the state standards current withtechnological advancements and industry practices with regard to energyefficiency, while also giving due consideration to consumer andenvironmental costs and benefits. The department shall strive to have thestandards achieve greater energy efficiency over time in a prudent andreasonable manner. Standards shall not be more stringent than required bythe federal energy star program requirements, if such requirements areapplicable.
