25-2802. Jurisdiction.(1)The Small Claims Court shall have subject matter jurisdiction in all civilactions of any type when the amount of money or damages or the value of thepersonal property claimed does not exceed the jurisdictional amount specifiedin subsection (4) of this section, exclusive of interest and costs.(2) The Small Claims Court shall have subject matter jurisdiction incivil matters when the plaintiff seeks to disaffirm, avoid, or rescind a contractor agreement for the purchase of goods or services not in excess of the jurisdictionalamount specified in subsection (4) of this section, exclusive of interestand costs.(3) The Small Claims Court shall have jurisdiction when the party defendantor his or her agent resides or is doing business within the county or whenthe cause of action arose within the county.(4) The jurisdictional amount is threethousand five hundred dollars from July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2015.The Supreme Court shall continue to adjust the jurisdictional limitfor the Small Claims Court every fifth year commencing July 1, 2015. The adjusted jurisdictional amount shallbe equal to the then current jurisdictional amount adjusted by the averagepercentage change in the unadjusted Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumerspublished by the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics for the five-year periodpreceding the adjustment date. The jurisdictional amount shall be roundedto the nearest one-hundred-dollar amount.
