There shall be a department of resources and economic development under the executive direction of a commissioner of resources and economic development, consisting of a division of forests and lands, a division of economic development which shall include but not be limited to subdivisions of development and promotion, a division of travel and tourism development, and a division of parks and recreation. Its purpose shall be to ensure the efficient coordinated function of the 4 divisions, whereby the interests of economic development, protection and responsible management of natural resources, public enjoyment of state parks and forests, and promotion of travel and tourism development are each held to be of integral importance in the overall functioning of the department.
