NEW HAMPSHIRE STATUTES AND CODES

Section 653:3-1 United States Senators.


   I. At the state general election in 1980 and at the state general election every sixth year thereafter and at the state general election in 1984 and at the state general election every sixth year thereafter, the voters of the state shall elect one United States senator.
   II. No person shall have his or her name placed upon the ballot for the office of United States senator who, by the end of the term of such office running at the time at which the person seeks nomination for election or election, will have served, or but for resignation would have served, as a member of the United States Senate representing this state for 2 consecutive terms. This limitation on the number of terms shall apply to terms of office beginning on or after January 1, 1997.
