40A:9-131 - Acting mayor

40A:9-131.  Acting mayor    In every municipality, unless otherwise provided by law, if a vacancy occurs  in the office of mayor, by reason of death, resignation or otherwise, the  presiding officer of the governing body shall become the acting mayor until a  successor is elected and qualified.
