6:1-52 - Depositions:  records;  findings, witness fees and expenses; testimony of commissioners or director

6:1-52.  Depositions:  records;  findings, witness fees and expenses; testimony of commissioners or director    The commission or director or any party, in any investigation, may cause to  be taken the deposition of witnesses residing within or without the State in  the manner prescribed by law for like depositions in civil actions in the courts of record in this State.  A full and complete record shall be kept of all proceedings had before the commission, or any hearings had, and all testimony shall be taken down by a stenographer appointed by the commission. Every order of the commission shall contain findings in sufficient detail to enable a court to determine the controverted questions presented by the proceeding, and whether proper weight was given to the evidence.  Each witness who shall appear before the commission shall receive for his attendance the fees and mileage now provided for witnesses in civil cases in courts of record of this State, which shall be audited and paid by the State in the same manner as other expenses are audited and paid, upon presentation of proper vouchers sworn to by such witnesses and approved by the chairman of the commission, or, in his absence, by the vice-chairman.
