464-B - Definitions.

§ 464-b. Definitions. For the purposes of this article: 1. "Rural area" shall mean a rural area as defined in section two thousand nine hundred fifty-one of the public health law. 2. "Advisory committee" shall mean the committee created in accordance with section four hundred sixty-four-c of this article, for the purposes of assisting the commissioner in administering the New York state rural human services networking program created pursuant to the provisions of this article. 3. "Human service" shall mean any service provided to individuals or groups of individuals, for the purpose of improving or enhancing such individuals' health and/or welfare, by addressing social problems including but not limited to: domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, migrant health problems, child abuse, nutritional deficiencies, suicide, hunger, unemployment, lack of suitable shelter, crime, drug and alcohol abuse and poverty. 4. "Human services provider" shall mean any public or not-for-profit private entity utilizing public and/or private funds to provide or contract for the provision of human services for the benefit of the general public or specific client groups.
