§ 106-22.4. Llamas as livestock.

§ 106‑22.4.  Llamasas livestock.

Any rules adopted by the Board of Agriculture that affect llamas shallnot refer to llamas as exotic or wild animals. It is the intent of the GeneralAssembly that llamas be treated as domesticated livestock in order to promotethe development and improvement of the llama industry in the State. Thissection does not prohibit the Board of Agriculture from classifying llamas foranimal health purposes in accordance with generally accepted standards ofveterinary medicine. For purposes of the section, "llama" means aSouth American camelid that is an animal of the genus llama. Llama includesllamas, alpacas, and guanacos. Llama does not include vicunas. (1997‑84, s. 3.)
