§ 106‑554. Application to Board of Agriculture for authorization of referendum.

Any existing commission, council, board or other agency fairlyrepresentative of the growers and producers of any agricultural commodityherein referred to, and any such commission, council, board or other agencyhereafter created for and fairly representative of the growers or producers ofany such agricultural commodity herein referred to, may at any time after thepassage and ratification of this Article make application to the Board ofAgriculture of the State of North Carolina for certification and approval forthe purpose of conducting a referendum among the growers or producers of suchparticular agricultural commodity, for commercial purposes, upon the questionof levying an assessment under the provisions of this Article, collecting andutilizing the same for the purposes stated in such referendum.
