§ 114‑15.2. Use of private investigatorslimited.
No State executive officer, department, agency, institution,commission, bureau, or other organized activity of the State that receivessupport in whole or in part from the State except for counties, cities, towns,other municipal corporations or political subdivisions of the State or anyagencies of these subdivisions, or county or city boards of education mayemploy a private investigator without the consent of the Attorney General. Ifthe Attorney General determines that it is impracticable for the Bureau toconduct the investigation, the Attorney General shall employ a privateinvestigator and shall fix the compensation for his services. The cost of theprivate investigator shall be paid from funds credited to the entity requestingthe investigation or from the Contingency and Emergency Fund. (1985, c. 479, s. 138; 2003‑214, s. 1(1).)
