§ 115C‑254. Use ofschool buses by State militia or national guard.
When requested to do so by theGovernor, the board of education of any local school administrative unit isauthorized and directed to furnish a sufficient number of school buses to theNorth Carolina State Defense Militia or the National Guard for the purpose oftransporting members of the State militia [or] members of the National Guard toand from authorized places of encampment, or to and from places to whichmembers of the State militia or members of the National Guard are ordered toproceed for the purpose of suppressing riots or insurrections, repellinginvasions or dealing with any other emergency. Public school buses so furnishedby any local school administrative unit to the North Carolina State DefenseMilitia or the National Guard shall be operated by members or employees of theState militia or National Guard, and all expense of such operation, includingany repair or replacement of any bus occasioned by such operation, shall be paidby the State from the appropriations available for the use of the State militiaor the National Guard.
