§ 115C‑318. Liability insurance for nonteaching public school personnel.
The State Board of Education shall provide funds for liabilityinsurance for nonteaching public school personnel to the extent that suchpersonnel's salaries are funded by the State. The insurance shall cover claimsmade for injury liability and property damage liability on account of an actdone or an omission made in the course of the employee's duties. As provided bylaw or the rules and policies of the State Board of Education or the localschool administrative unit, the State Board of Education shall comply with theState's laws in securing the insurance and shall provide it at the earliestpossible date for the 1982‑83 school year. Nothing in this section shallprevent the State Board from furnishing the same liability insurance protectionfor nonteaching public school personnel not supported by State funds, providedthat the cost of the protection shall be funded from the same source thatsupports the salaries of these employees.
