§ 116-36.6. East Carolina University School of Medicine; Medicare receipts.

§ 116‑36.6.  EastCarolina University School of Medicine; Medicare receipts.

The East Carolina UniversitySchool of Medicine shall request, on a regular basis consistent with theState's cash management plan, funds earned by the School from Medicare reimbursementsfor education costs. Upon receipt, these funds are appropriated and shall beallocated as follows:

(1)        The portion of theMedicare reimbursement generated through the effort and expense of the Schoolof Medicine's Medical Faculty Practice Plan shall be transferred to theappropriate Medical Faculty Practice Plan account within the School ofMedicine. The Medical Faculty Practice Plan shall assume responsibility for anyof these funds that subsequently must be refunded due to final audit settlements.

(2)        Repealed by SessionLaws 2005‑276, s. 9.26(a).

(2a)      Funds that werereceived pursuant to this section prior to July 1, 2005, and that weretransferred to a special fund account on deposit with the State Treasurer areappropriated to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University andmay be expended by the Brody School of Medicine for the family medicine centerand for purposes consistent with its stated mission.
