§ 120-70.107. Organization of Committee.

§120‑70.107.  Organization of Committee.

(a)        The President ProTempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives shalleach designate a cochair of the Revenue Laws Study Committee. The Committeeshall meet upon the joint call of the cochairs.

(b)        A quorum of theCommittee is nine members. No action may be taken except by a majority vote ata meeting at which a quorum is present. While in the discharge of its officialduties, the Committee has the powers of a joint committee under G.S. 120‑19and G.S. 120‑19.1 through G.S. 120‑19.4.

(c)        The Committee shallbe funded by the Legislative Services Commission from appropriations made tothe General Assembly for that purpose. Members of the Committee receivesubsistence and travel expenses as provided in G.S. 120‑3.1 and G.S. 138‑5.The Committee may contract for consultants or hire employees in accordance withG.S. 120‑32.02. Upon approval of the Legislative Services Commission, theLegislative Services Officer shall assign professional staff to assist theCommittee in its work. Upon the direction of the Legislative ServicesCommission, the Supervisors of Clerks of the Senate and of the House ofRepresentatives shall assign clerical staff to the Committee. The expenses forclerical employees shall be borne by the Committee. (1997‑483, s. 14.1.)
