§ 130A-112. Notification of death.

§130A‑112.  Notification of death.

A funeral director or personacting as such who first assumes custody of a dead body or fetus of 20completed weeks gestation or more shall submit a notification of death to thelocal registrar in the county where death occurred, within 24 hours of takingcustody of the body or fetus. The notification of death shall identify theattending physician responsible for medical certification, except that fordeaths under the jurisdiction of the medical examiner, the notification shallidentify the medical examiner and certify that the medical examiner hasreleased the body to a funeral director or person acting as such for finaldisposition.
