§ 130A‑216.  Cancerpatient navigation program.

The Department shall establisha cancer patient navigation program under the Breast and Cervical CancerControl Program. The purpose of the program shall be to provide education aboutand assistance with the management of cancer. At a minimum, the program shalldo the following:

(1)        Initially servebreast and cervical cancer patients statewide with the intent of futureexpansion to all other cancer types.

(2)        Employ amultidisciplinary team approach to assist cancer patients in identifying andgaining access to available health care, financial and legal assistance,transportation, psychological support, and other related issues.

(3)        Work with anexisting cancer service agency that is not affiliated with a particular healthcare institution so that program clients may have access to any cancer healthcare facility in the State.  (2009‑502, s. 1.)
