§ 130A‑346. Mosquitoand vector control program; definition.
(a) The Departmentshall establish and administer a vector control program to protect the publichealth and to promote an environment suitable for habitation. A vector is aliving transporter and transmitter of the causative agent of a disease. Theprogram shall address the problems presented by vectors and other arthropodsand rodents of public health significance in this State, including, but notlimited to, mosquitoes, ticks, rodents, fleas and flies. The Department isauthorized to engage in research, conduct investigations and surveillance,implement a vector control program and take other actions necessary to controlvectors.
(b) The Commissionshall adopt rules necessary to implement the program including rules for thecontrol of vectors and other arthropods and rodents.
(c) The followingdefinitions shall apply throughout this Article:
(1) "Department"means the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
